What We Do
The Restoration Job runs a free phone line, (888) 317-9980, for people dealing with water damage, flooding, storm damage, sewage backups and mold. When you call, we connect you with an independent restoration provider that serves your area so you can talk through the problem and arrange an inspection.
The site itself is meant to help before and after that call: what to do in the first hour, how drying and mold remediation work, how flood insurance differs from homeowners coverage, and what conditions tend to cause water damage in your state and city.
What We Don't Do
The Restoration Job is not a restoration contractor. We don't employ technicians, operate equipment, keep local offices or perform, supervise or guarantee any work. The provider you're connected with is an independent business that sets its own prices and schedules, and is responsible for its own workmanship, permits, licensing and insurance.
Choosing a Provider: Questions Worth Asking
- Do you hold the contractor or specialty license my state or city requires for this work, and can I look it up?
- Are you insured, and can you send a certificate of insurance?
- Will you give me a written scope of work and estimate before starting anything beyond emergency mitigation?
- How will you measure moisture and decide when drying is complete? Will I get moisture readings?
- Do you follow an industry drying standard, such as the ANSI/IICRC S500 standard for water damage restoration?
- If my insurer is involved, how do you document the loss for the adjuster?
Those answers come from the provider, so take notes and compare if you have time. In a genuine emergency, stopping the water and starting extraction quickly usually matters most.
Where Calls Come From
The line takes calls from the states listed on our Service Areas page, with local guides for many cities.
